Today I was late but it also marks the beginning of the 'Narrative, Storyboarding and Film' week. Here is some information about different angle types to film with.
Over the shoulder shot, it can show who is in power
Dutch angle or tilt is a a type of camera shot where the camera is set at an angle on its roll axis so that the shot is composed with vertical lines at an angle to the side of the frame. Conveys confusion and creates a sense of unease, the audience views it from the character's viewpoint.
Crane shot / Drone - can suggest the end of the film, like the camera is taking the audience out of the scene (from in to out) and the opposite can be said for the camera going in from out.
Panning shot - The camera is moved horizontally so it sweeps around, it gives us a few clues about the scene and it maybe also shows the space in which the character lives.
Tracking shot - The camera is placed on a moving thing where it follows the action
Zoom shot - changing the perspective, moving closing but zooming out
We also looked a little bit at narrative.
Linear Narrative - A narrative is a story that includes plot, characters, setting, climax and resolution. Linear narratives present stories in a logical manner by telling what happens from one point in time to the next without using flashbacks or flash-forwards and then returning to the present.
Non-linear Narrative - Nonlinear narrative, disjointed narrative or disrupted narrative is a narrative technique, sometimes used in literature, film, hypertext websites and other narratives, where events are portrayed, for example, out of chronological order.
Storyboard idea -
a young figure has another hard day, left with nowhere to go and no one to talk to, they settle for a random corner somewhere. There, they meet a mysterious dark figure who ushers them into the dark to meet with the Shadows.
I just went with the flow when coming up with my film idea using the picture as a starting point.
Rearranging my current storyboard to try and change the narrative still produced a linear narrative that made sense, this could be because my story is very basic and simple and the story is not very fixed and difficult. There is a lot of ambiguity so the story changing doesn't really change it. Despite this, I am not planning on changing it. There is comfort in the expecting. I do not believe that I am suited for filmmaking or photography or editing which leaves me to wonder what I am suited for. I will use this film as an opportunity to use and explore different camera angles which I haven't done before.
There is supposed Tuesday and Thursday so I need to remember to bring my phone and camera (charged) tomorrow.
