This week is supposed to give us the opportunity to complete and compile my Stage 1 portfolio of work. I have completed the things that I need to complete for this project as far as I know but below is a list of the things that I should have completed :
Research image analysis: Research handout, Mood boards; mind maps
Photography studio or location work: Test shots; Lighting experiments; Location images
Storyboards: Photographs and drawings
Written work: Blog posts; script; dialogue
Film work: Test shots; Green screen/location shots; Rushes/raw film before editing; Final film
Sound work: Experiments; Audio work
Marketing: Promotional material: web development (web and print advertising)
Project evaluation: Write up - 1000 words in total, including research, photography planning, what went well. what went wrong!
Although I have technically finished these things, I still haven't done the interviews which is something I wanted to do. These are the tasks I need to complete this week as per the sheet we were given:
First task = What have you & haven't you done
Second task = Peer review
Third task = What practices did you connect with
The first task is already shown above but the third task I will detail below. I will write it as sentences.
Within each stage of the project the practice I connected with most closely was research. I was especially interested in learning more about different subject matters. However, marketing was the activity that I connected with most closely with each pathway, I try to develop my ideas logically and cognitively when trying to make them the most creative but it really just ends up chaotically. Maybe I did those two incorrectly. Out of all the things I did during the project, I feel like the research was most successful and shone through the most. It looked the most professional as well in the website, which I believe is the second best; I judge the success of an outcome by how professional it looks and by the attractiveness. Finally, I found the documentation, writing and design and planning process the most useful because they all enabled me to think through every process and make sure everything was done properly.
This is all I could write about which pathway I plan to choose by which corresponded to my interests (which were planning, research, digital, directing and organising) :
"I was disillusioned in year 1. Now I am unmotivated. I think marketing & promotion was along the lines of what I wanted when I joined the course but I entered through photography & that soon changed to film as that was the norm. I am not suited for either but I am interested in exploring more about marketing & promotion."
Does that make sense? No.
Lastly I wrote about what courses I had started to look at but I don't feel like listing them here.
These are the things my tutor told me to think about or do:
Continue research as a way of exploring you interests
Use photography as a research method (think about)
What other methods could you use to explore your interests?
My ideas -
Instead of using video, use still images to make a video. Take continuous pictures of someone jumping and running to put together and make a film.
Make a poster about languages
Make a film about immigrants (documentary), what it's like to move
Talk to someone about promotion & marketing and other things like that
