What work represents you?
Write a small blurb for each piece
Maybe put a portfolio section in your blog
Below is a list of things that I am thinking of putting in my portfolio :
A collage of pictures (photographs)
The film made with classmates (videos)
Film about Margate (videos)
Stuff I made outside of schoolwork (videos) (media work)
Some of my mood boards and mind maps (media work)
My illustration that got into a book (media work)
The beginning of Evening Shadows (videos)
Screenshots of my websites (web page)
I thought about the courses that I might potentially do and what the requirements are and what kind of portfolio it would need. Here is some of the information I found:
"A portfolio of work that should contain a show reel of moving images (maximum of five minutes) and/or a portfolio of visual work (photography drawings, animations, webpages, etc.) We're always impressed by students who show self-motivated projects they're working on beyond their coursework, as this is an indication of real enthusiasm."
"Creating a portfolio is your opportunity to identify and refine your artistic aspirations and could be the key to securing the place you want."
"Your portfolio should feature examples of research an development of your ideas and projects - this should be highly presentable and well organised. It may be useful to arrange your work in themes, styles or chronological order. It should exhibit your creative journey, thinking processes and individual personality, so your potential can be assessed."
From UCA Film courses and portfolio advice
"You don't need to have previous experience of video making, but we do want to see evidence of creativity and original thinking. This can be in the form of one or more of the following: videos, photographs, scripts, creative writing, sound recordings, journalism, online content and general media work."
