Today we had a group seminar to catch up and talk about where we are now and what we are planning to do this week. I don't think I explained my idea or what I am planning to do properly but I guess I will just do the more research contextual research that I was suggested. I didn't get to finish saying what I wanted to say as well, but it wasn't really important.
I talked about how I am yet to add my Memento film (by Christopher Nolan) research and Anne Frank diary research to my blog (because I seem to like to procrastinate). I did research on these two things because I want to add more/actual contextual research to work because I often forget to but I didn't get to say the fact that I was planning on uploading it after that seminar but it's not important. After I explained my project film outcome poorly, I was given some more contextual work to look at : 2001 Space Odyssey, Back to the Future 1985, The Time Machine by H G Wells (though I don't know where I would get a hold of it) and Time Capsule 2018. I was also suggested to do some research on memory boxes and time capsules which I guess have to do with my idea.
The things I was going to say were just that I was going to be putting the things on my blog (the research and the storyboard), attend the sessions by Chrissie and JP, get some props and then slowly start filming different shots but would probably start by filming some test shots.
My idea is about exploring what type of mementos they will keep in future and what type of meanings they could have. It would be about no specific year in the future as I want it to be ambiguous because it could happen at any time and we don't know when. I wanted to make the "film" (which isn't really a film and video is most definitely the better word) more like a visualiser to a poem/reading which would be like the thoughts of someone who is looking at a memento-or I guess now it could be a memory box-from the past of a family member. I wanted to think about what that would look like.
