After the meeting we had our 1 to 1 tutorials about the assessment.
Below my tutor's feedback is detailed :
'JOURNAL / BLOG RESEARCH, DOCUMENTATION AND ANALYSIS
There is extensive research material linking to both projects with a strong written evaluative response to the projects. The outcome of the memento brief results in a though-provoking response demonstrating a carefully constructed film that creates an emotional reaction through the depiction of the personal experience of living through the year 2020. This is well researched and considered with a strong narrative and attention to detail. The approach to problem solving and interpretation of the brief is well documented and the film work is carefully scripted and well produced. Well done!
SPECIFIC MEDIA TASKS AND RESOLVED ELEMENTS
There is good planning and selection of material through the use of audio and video production, the use of language illustrates the student’s ability to communicate well through both written and visual media. The investigation and use of text and image are sophisticated and demonstrates the student’s strong academic ability. For future reference, this work could be continued through investigation through researching semiotics, the study of visuals and linguistics. A starting point for research into the language of images is the book by David Crow, Visible signs: an introduction to semiotics in the visual arts.
EVALUATIONS
There is extensive evaluative material across the blog that demonstrates the students ability to write from an informed perspective and to problem solve through research and reflect as they create new work.
PORTFOLIO—PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOLDER—UCAS/D2D/APPRENTICSHIP—PERSONAL STATEMENT
There is evidence within OneDrive (see stage 2-part 1-Evaluation) demonstrating progression and evaluation considerations for working within education, particularly TEFL courses. Across a series of blog post the student has thoughtfully considered career paths and has eloquently described their thoughts through their writing.
Evidence is detailed across a range of directories within OneDrive and blog posts for professional development that demonstrate research into career paths into teaching abroad. This includes applications and acceptance letter.
The evaluations describe experiences of working with digital media while considering a career within education and the reasons for wishing to apply for TEFL courses and teach abroad. It would be helpful if all the progression work was in one professional development folder. Currently it is listed in stage 2-part 2 – documents and professional development folders, and stage 2 – part 1 – evaluation folder.'
I will consider all the feedback.
We then discussed my plans for the Final Major Project. I was advised to test ideas and see where it takes you as migration is a big subject I should think about what is it that interests me and I will have to funnel down the subject. Do mind maps and consider looking at semiotics. I think I need to think well and research well.
