Today was the first day back in school since December (excluding the two tests that I took in the testing centre) but it felt like it had only been a long weekend since I wasn't in school. Nothing had changed. My tutor suggested I look at the film Rocks (2019) because it was based on some girls in East London and had won a Bafta award. It is exclusively on Netflix (which I do not have) but it looks very interesting, I'm not too sure if it's relevant though. It does somewhat have to do with identity and growing up but I don't think it fully focuses on how identities are formed which is what I am more interested in.
I looked at the following resources:
Continuing on, for the next studio sessions I think that I should bring or book a laptop so I can work with it. There are a lot of other workshops that I could look at doing like photography, light retouching and Adobe Lightroom workshops, I will have to look more into it. Since I am mostly working alone, workshops can be useful. Perhaps I should look at a sound workshop, although I don't necessarily need these workshops, it would be good to know how to use them for the future, and to learn the things I would have been using if things were different.
The day was about showing our projects and how far we are in it and looking at other people's projects and giving feedback. A peer made a really interesting album cover-like art, I found it really interesting, maybe I should ask them about it.
Before Easter we were researching but now we should be doing things and working with our action plan. Perhaps I should update the PowerPoint I started a while ago so it shows where I am now. DM6 was open and I was thinking that I perhaps might use it but I didn't have the time but thankfully I can also borrow things again (though I don't think I will need it). I also need to remember to book tests twice a week (bi-weekly) but I have already booked the ones for this week.
One thing that I need to do more of is movie watching. I also need to think about whether my idea has changed. Well, I wanted it to be only virtual but now I want to film some real life things. I should really think about location scouting for the in real life interviews, perhaps I should ask the interviewees where they would like to be filmed. I think perhaps after the first round of interviews, I may re-interview people and maybe ask them to choose items to talk about.
My biggest problem is not writing down and showing my thought processes. Something I also realised is that I don't talk about my bibliography/the research I've done in my blog. I need to think about my target audience and who I am making the film for. Talking about the project helps reinforce your ideas and helps you really think about what the project is about. I write everything down so I can remember it.
