Final Major Project briefing (Monday 15th February 2021)

Today we had the final major project(FMP) briefing. We looked at My UCA because most things/all the things are in myUCA which would be open on Tuesday. We were given tasks/documents (writing resources-reflective forms) to complete over reading week. There's also a summary of paper work that we would need to complete.

The final major project or FMP is basically the end of year examination. It is equivalent to all of the work we had done for Stage 2 and it is about 1/3 of our credit value, it is 40 of the credits of the total you get. We will have to work to the assessment criteria and it begins with a research task. The research task is called 'Assemble your identity' and basically you have to think about what you have done in the last 20 weeks. 10 sentences and do a self-evaluation. Part of the grade rests on the quality of the proposal so it has to be good. It is important to do draft writing as you do your project proposal. The most helpful thing for me to do would be to look at and reference the timetable.

Explaining the Final Major Project (Tuesday 23rd February 2021)

After the FMP briefing, many people had questions and so our tutor decided to explain it to us in more depth and answer our questions that we may have. It was the second meeting about final major project. There is a new folder in myUCA and our tutor explained a lot of what the different files in the first folder are. We were reminded that it is important to not forget to use Harvard referencing.

I had already downloaded everything from the first folder, looked through everything and deleted the duplicates and I feel fine and confident in what I need to do.

The second folder is more confusing for me especially with the colours, it makes it harder to read and get my brain around but I will carefully and slowly look through it later and see what it all means.

We might or might not be offline soon but I am not sure. We will not be in our old groups but in our specialism groups if we do return to in person and I dread that a lot. If we were coming in it would be one to one and a half days a week. But a good thing is that we have different classrooms and studios so we can go in more.

I need to do research for my stuff. There is a lot to think about. There are example proposals to look at which is good. It took our tutor a month to do the Altered States stuff so we will have to do a lot. We can't write and do a project about something we don't know about.

After that briefing I started to think that maybe I would have preferred doing Photography.
