Today I had my one to one tutorial with one of my tutors. The things that I still have left to do are finishing editing my footage, recording the background audio and doing the more research that I was recommended to do by my tutor as will be explained later on.

The first thing I was told that I needed to do was research about artists and background research in order to develop the idea that I have. I have a strong idea which is cool and all but having contextual research is more important but the thing is that I have always been bad at the contextual and visual research.

My tutor said it could be filmmakers or designers and such and said I could also research about hidden items. They said that a lot of artists have done work about found items and so I can look into that. I could think about how the idea relates to the wider context of art and think about the idea of something hidden and what it means to lose something and what it means to find something.

That reminded me of a nice theory called the Doorway Effect. I read the whole proper article thing years back but I reread this BBC article to help remember it.

It talks about losing your memory when you walk through doors.

"As we move through our days our attention shifts between these levels – from our goals and ambitions, to plans and strategies, and to the lowest levels, our concrete actions. When things are going well, often in familiar situations, we keep our attention on what we want and how we do it seems to take care of itself. If you’re a skilled driver then you manage the gears, indicators and wheel automatically, and your attention is probably caught up in the less routine business of navigating the traffic or talking to your passengers. When things are less routine we have to shift our attention to the details of what we’re doing, taking our minds off the bigger picture for a moment. Hence the pause in conversation as the driver gets to a tricky junction, or the engine starts to make a funny sound. The Doorway Effect occurs because we change both the physical and mental environments, moving to a different room and thinking about different things. That hastily thought up goal, which was probably only one plate among the many we’re trying to spin, gets forgotten when the context changes."

It's like losing memory and I think it relates (at least to me) to the theme of memento and what I have as an idea for my video.

I guess the current research that I have done so far isn't good enough but I will look at things in context of other artists and do more visual research. But one thing I will say is that though I haven't been keeping up with posting on the exact days as before, I still think that I post around the same amount of work. I guess I will add a picture to every post so it can make them more readable.

I have taken screenshots of UCAS stuff and will talk about it a little. I put the screenshots in my Microsoft OneDrive and will email my one drive stuff to my tutors. So I applied to primary and early years education courses. Accelerated degrees because I am already a year behind of the usual (not the real reason but it is what I will say). 4 out of 5 have have already replied but one more hasn't and it is annoying to me. If you don't like me then decline if you want me then give me an offer. But whatever.

I sort of feel like my blog wasn't really read but...maybe they just didn't understand what I wrote or was talking about but it's whatever.

Anyways, that's all for this blogpost.
