Monday 19th April 2021

Yesterday (Monday) I attended the greenscreen workshop. I had some doubts about going to the workshop since it was no longer necessary for my current project but ultimately, I thought it was best to go. Before the workshop was the weekly Monday meeting. The meeting was in response to the peer review tutorial last week, this week it is time to make and create. Next week we will be required to present some of our work. It will be a presentation of elements of the work that we have been creating and there are many ways to do this. At first I misunderstood the meaning of presentation that my tutor meant and was thinking about continuing on with that PowerPoint presentation that I had started but she meant the other meaning (display) , however, with the amount that I talk about it I might as well still continue on with it.

The next day we would be having one to one tutorials wit our tutor so it was important to think about what I would do for the rest of the day. I decided it would be best to bring in my laptop so that I could do work on it. During the meeting we looked at MIP Working Practices which are Drawing, Experimentation, Documentation and Presentation. We should have already done our Drawing stuff, and right now we should be in our Experimentation phase while next week will be the full Presentation phase but we should be documenting throughout. I think in terms of Experimentation, I am not really doing enough. I did some filming and photographing here and there but I feel like it's not enough which is why going to the workshop was a good idea, learning this new skill is a form of experimenting and I can perhaps think about incorporating it into my project. It is on the action plan to watch a greenscreen tutorial (which I have done) but going to a practical workshop is so much better and it allows me to experiment with the Adobe Creative Cloud!

During the meeting, I began to think about how this course was designed to help students prepare for art-type university courses or work in the creative industry which makes sense but it is something I haven't really thought about in a while. I also thought about whether making an identity sheet and a questionnaire with feedback spaces for the presentation would be good. It also made me think about what my project was about.

'I think it's about self-discovery but not my discovery, yours! I think school tries to prepare us for "real life" but not actual life. People don't know who they are but school does nothing to help, just puts unnecessary stress on children. Before they leave school, they would be spending over half their life in school with no clue who they are. I want people to start to think about it for themselves' is what I wrote about it. It doesn't fully makes sense but I think it gets my idea out there well enough.

Identity crisis as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary: personal psychosocial conflict especially in adolescence that involves confusion about one's social role and often a sense of loss of continuity to one's personality. I feel that it would be better if School was structured in a way that is better for identity building, especially earlier on.

After that long tangent, I went to the greenscreen workshop though I had to leave early because of helping someone, I think I still did a lot and learnt a lot. I also heard that there was an online tutorial conducted by the same person so I will try to look for it and watch it.

Some of the pictures and videos I took from the workshop below.
