The film seminar/project progression discussion took place on Monday 23rd November 2020

These are my notes (they are probably very incoherent for the unknowing eyes but I will try and make it more understandable):

Seminars develop understanding of area of work, sometimes they are called tutorials. Ideas and how ideas mature (From a seed to a tree, altered states is a seed maybe) Seed (is references, experiences) to tree (is researching, resourcing, exploring expanding) to fruit (is presenting, reflecting, displaying, editing) to jam (is the final product).

Visual and contextual research, storyboarding, location and subject research, mood sheets, character research, script development, prop and location sourcing, waivers and requests, green screening, thinking about cinematography, editing, sound recording, typography.

Things that I need to consider doing some research into the topics :

Documentaries Propaganda How text can communicate and/or manipulate things Text can be calming depending on who is seeing it and what is said Typography Car adverts are usually very misleading Digital image but with floral text (various contrast types) 1984 (the book and the film)

It’s film but not a film - the film I want to create is not really a film not the type you go and watch at the cinema but the type of internet video that can or might make impacts in people state of minds. That sort of thing (Like a YouTube documentary). The mental side, the psyche, that’s what I’m planning to do my film on.

Honestly, I don’t like watching films so I wonder why I choose it as a specified subject? I think it is because I have a motivation with film, for the other progression options, I don't have any ambition to create anything specific but with film I do want to create something that can change at least on person mind. As opposed to the long films made for cinema I am more interested in and influenced by shorter-type videos, like music videos or short internet films, probably because the internet has shortened by attention span. What with the pandemic and quarantine I have been spending more time on the internet where as before I would be exploring the areas around me. Once this is over, or passed or better, I will be going back to exploring, though it would be a wider area (like the world), but until then, this is my mindset.

Maybe Jap-English. This means "japanglish" or "wasei-eigo" which is the word for Japanese expressions based on English words, or parts of word combinations, that do not exist in standard English or whose meanings differ from the words from which they were derived. Linguistics classifies them as pseudo-loanwords. Examples and explanations :

"Donmai” - It sounds like it should mean “I don’t mind,” but comes from the English reassurance, “Don’t pay that any mind.”

Wanpisu” - From the English term “one piece.” But is actually the Japanese word for a woman’s dress.

Manshon” - Don’t expect “mansion” because manshon simply describes a condominium-style apartment complex.

These are the images that I had chosen to sort of showcase-ish and describe sort of:
