Friday 22nd November 2019
On Friday, we performed our Elevator Pitch for our classmates, in my opinion it went normally (although I was having a slight panic attack). But in my other teammates opinion, it went very smoothly.
The lecture we had was about propaganda, it was amazing. I really liked learning about it.
Propaganda Part 1
Propaganda is information especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view. It often simplifies or polarises ideas.
Print processed greatly facilitated the widespread of propaganda. Reformation ideas were printed in Germany and secretly distributed throughout Europe and led to changes in belief that ultimately led to Henry VIII breaking away from the Roman Catholic church.
Print pamphlets were crucial in spreading the revolutionaries' ideas, and opened up a new channel of free speech.
When thinking about visual propaganda it is useful to consider these two theories:
Semiotics
Simulacra
There is more that I learnt but I think that they may be too much for this blog post.
