Monday 30th September 2019

On this day we were given the task to dérive and become flâneurs while going around UCA. At the end of the day we had to have made an A2 piece to show our journey. Our mapping was meant to document our findings and help an observer to understand and follow our journey. We could use photos, symbols, drawings. We were also told to have a starting point, mine was the 'base' room from which we were quite quickly 'kicked out' of so that we could go into a different room with a lot of big tables for our A2 papers. This exercise was to prepare us for what we would have to do in Margate. At the end of the day, we were briefed on the Margate trip.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of my terrible artwork but i have a few which I will insert below.

I took a lot pictures that I wanted to put in my artwork but I wasn't able to print them. Therefore, I will place them below.

To Be A Flaneuse In Margate

We were told it was going to rain and that none of the rides in Dreamland were going to be on and that we should also be careful of the artworks. Our time for going in to the Turner Contemporary was 13:00 and we weren't supposed to wear our lanyards. Our other instructions to follow for the Turner Contemporary were as follows :

  • We were not with the lady with the pink hair

  • We should pretend we were adults

  • We've never heard of UCA

  • Try not to get kicked out

  • Take lots of photographs

We were to arrive at UCA by 8.45 am and the coach will be leaving at 9am and at 10.30am we would arrive at Margate. No going in the sea under any circumstances and it was probably going to rain so be prepared, were our final instructions.
